Prayer, Mindfulness, and Service of God
Talmud for Begginers with Rabbi David Wolkenfeld
How can frail, mortal, and imperfect human beings dare to approach their Creator in prayer? How can sincere and authentic religious sentiments find expression through reciting a fixed liturgy?
We'll explore these questions and more in this weekly class on the fifth chapter of the Talmudic tractate, Brakhot.
In addition, we will pay attention to the structure, vocabulary, and hermeneutics of the Talmud--the central element of Jewish intellectual and spiritual life for centuries.
All texts will be provided in English translation as well as in the Hebrew/Aramaic original.
8:30-9:30pm in the CJL Beit Midrash (second floor of the CJL)
