Pizza & Parsha with Rabbi Ovadia

Please note it will be at the earlier time of 5:40 so that we can break to fast together with Pizza and bagels.

ALSO IMPORTANT:
You may remember that there are two money-related mitzvot on/near Purim
1. Half-Shekel: we donate a half shekel which is $1.50 in commemoration of the census back in the day
2. Gifts to the Poor- while we are enjoying our own delicious meal at the Kaplans we of course want to ensure that our less fortunate brothers and sisters have a Purim meal themselves so we give the amount it would take to buy two meals for Purim.

If you bring money Thursday night (1.50 for H.S. and ? for G2P), then the Kaplans will help us do those mitzvahs.

Weeknight Chaburah Night

7:15pm, 2nd floor Hillel
Join us next week for a Chaburah night during the week! Jacob Chefitz will be giving a Chaburah on "Why are we doing this?: An analysis of the Four Sons."

Mechirat Chametz (Selling Chametz)

Forms due by Thursday, March 25th at 1 PM
One of the key steps in preparing for the holiday is the disposal of Chametz (leavened products). Recognizing the significant financial loss that the requirement to get rid of and destroy all of one’s Chametz may impose on Jewish families, the Rabbis came up with a way that the Chametz need not be destroyed – selling it to a non-Jew for the duration of the holiday. For a full explanation of how the sale of Chametz works, see the attached document titled “mechirat chametz explanation.” Rabbi Kaplowitz will be working with Rabbi Benjamin Samuels of Congregation Sha'arei Tefilah in Newton, MA to do the sale of chametz. In order to be included in the sale, you must fill out the attached form appointing Rabbi Kaplowitz as your agent (shaliach) to sell your chametz. One may submit the form electronically in accordance with the ruling of Rabbi Michael Broyde, a dayyan (rabbinic judge) on the Bet Din of America. Electronic submissions can be sent to brandeischametz@gmail.com. All forms must be submitted by Thursday, March 25th at 1 PM. Those who prefer may do a formal kinyan (gesture of sale in accordance with Jewish law). Like last year, Jules Levenson will be available to do a formal kinyan. To exercise this option, print and fill out the form. Bring it to Jules who will perform a formal kinyan with you. Additionally, Hillel will be tabling in Usdan and Sherman all of next week and will have forms available for you to fill out.

Siyum Mishnayot for Mrs. Kaplowitz (Rabbi Kaplowitz’s mother, Sarah Leah bat Shayndel)

Siyum March 25th
As many of you are well aware, Rabbi Kaplowitz's mother is not doing so well. It is customary to learn Torah on behalf of a sick individual in the hope that it merits a complete recovery. As a community, we have undertaken to learn Mishnayot Seder Moed for a refuah shleimah for Rabbi Kaplowitz's mother to, G-d willing, make a siyum at mishmar on March 25.
