
Rabbi David Wolkenfeld grew up in Manhattan where he attended Stuyvesant High School. He has a B.A. in History from Harvard University and has taken graduate courses in Medieval Jewish History at Yeshiva University. David studied for two years at Yeshivat Hamivtar in Efrat and for one year at Yeshivat Har Etzion in Alon Shvut. He has semikhah from Rabbi Zalman Nehemiah Goldberg, Rabbi She'ar Yashuv Kohen in Israel, and from YCT in New York. He has worked as a rabbinic intern at The Hampton Synagogue in Westhampton Beach, at the Kemp Mill Synagogue in Silver Spring, and at United Orthodox Synagogues of Houston.
Rabbi Wolkenfeld’s Torah interests include the interaction of halacha and social thought, philosophy of halacha, and Jewish political thought. David is an avid reader of The New Yorker and loves reading political blogs. A fanatic coffee and tea drinker, David enjoys hiking, running, music, and hanging out with his kids. A Yekke by heritage and Litvak by training, David enjoys singing with the Hasidim.
Sara Tillinger Wolkenfeld has a BA in Judaica and Comparative Literature from the University of Pennsylvania and has completed graduate coursework in Talmud at Yeshiva University. She has studied Talmud and Jewish Law at Midreshet Lindenbaum, Drisha, Pardes, Nishmat, and Beit Morashah. Sara, like her husband, has taught at The Hampton Synagogue in Westhampton Beach, New York, at United Orthodox Synagogues of Houston where she was an intern for two years, as a Beit Midrash Fellow at S.A.R. Academy in Riverdale, New York, and as a member of the summer faculty at the Drisha Institute for Jewish Education in New York. Sara also teaches hilchot nidah (laws for married couples) to brides and engaged couples.
