UCLA - Parshat Mishpatim

Amongst the many laws detailed in this week’s Torah portion – aptly called “Parshat Mishpatim” (“the portion of laws”), there is one particular law that I would like to call to attention: “You shall not taunt or oppress a ‘ger’ (translation to follow), for you were once ‘geirim’ in the land of Egypt” (Exodus 22:20 as well as 23:9).
